Named after Paris Singer, son of Singer Sewing Machine founder Isaac Singer, the original plans of the peninsula included a luxurious resort, hotel, and golf course. Paris Singer purchased the land from famous Palm Beach architect Addison Mizner in 1920. The two men planned to work together on the development, but a slowing economy, hurricane and, ultimately, the 1929 stock market crash, halted the development.
